Mount Boredoom

Be brave, little goat!

About the Game

In Mount Boredoom, players are tasked with planning the safest and shortest route for an adventurous goat trekking through a forest of hostile pine trees. Due to the game’s focus on the intuition underlying dynamic programming (the foundation of sequential decision making), the playing board operates on a grid. The goat may only travel one square at a time, while trees are in fixed positions that rotate each turn (90/180 degrees, clockwise/counterclockwise), with each tree shooting deadly pine cones in a subset of the four possible directions (up, down, left, right). Mount Boredoom aims to educate players about simple dynamic programming algorithms in their quest for the optimal route.
